Up, Up and Away!
Our creative adventures continued to float skyward this week in the Art Room as our artists went up, up and away in their very own hot air balloons!
Our preschoolers and their carers enjoyed a fun-filled morning assembling vibrant, cardboard balloon sculptures, complete with cardboard gondola, that they each decorated with rainbow-coloured shapes and patterns. We can’t wait to hear which of their favourite toy figures our little artists chose to launch high up into the air once they arrived home after class.
Later, our older artists went around the world in 60 minutes during their afterschool sessions. Having designed their buoyant, eye-catching craft on paper, they circumnavigated an imaginary globe and flew to far-flung landscapes with dramatic skies, to drift above striking landmarks and Wonders of the World. We are very grateful to Travel Four Seasons who generously donated their travel brochures to help with inspiration and collage material for this week’s art works.
Guided loosely by our chosen theme, everyone in our art sessions is encouraged to use their imagination and make independent choices about the elements they want to include in their artwork. With our small class sizes, the Art Room staff are always on hand to encourage each child’s vision for their piece and offer advice on the best materials and techniques for the task. The end results are always wonderfully varied and the fleet of ballons produced throughout the day this week was truly uplifting!
